Goal: This project will serve to recruit new 1-2 new surgical assistants in the very near future for immediate availability, through: 1. Provision of OR orientation at the SLGH hospital (information on local procedure, hygiene/scrubbing requirements); 2. Provision of information on the current equipment and unique protocols, as well as shadowing for complicated procedures, to allow independent practice of the new OR assistants in a timely manner to meet current demand.

Goal: Address concerns from General Surgeons re difficulty finding surgical assistants and especially add on cases/after hours; Discuss concerns with current OR assist workforce to ensure adequate and equal time in the OR.
Objectives: Improve/create surgical assistant availability schedule, find options for calendar/scheduling software and initiate using it; ongoing management of schedule/availability planning and software/calendar.
